Scriptures: Haggai 2:1-9, Revelations 3:1-6, Matthew 24:1-14
As we close week two of Advent, Haggai 2:1-9, Revelation 3:1-6, and Matthew 24:1-14 remind us of God’s unshakable promise and the call to faithfulness amidst uncertainty.
In Haggai, God speaks through the prophet to a discouraged people, promising to fill His house with glory greater than before. This passage points to the coming Messiah, the Prince of Peace, who brings restoration and hope. Even when circumstances seem bleak, God’s promises remain steadfast, assuring us that His plan surpasses our understanding.
In Revelation, Jesus warns the church in Sardis to wake up, repent, and strengthen what remains. This echoes the Advent theme of vigilance. The season of waiting is not passive but a time to rekindle our faith, aligning our lives with God’s truth. Like Sardis, we must heed Christ’s call to spiritual renewal.
In Matthew, Jesus foretells trials and tribulations before His return, urging His disciples to endure and remain faithful. This passage anchors our Advent reflection: though the world may falter, the gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed to all nations. Advent calls us to persevere, sharing Christ’s love as we await His glorious return.
Reflect: Let these scriptures inspire hope, renewal, and steadfastness as we prepare our hearts for the coming King.
Prayer: Lord, we thank You for Your unshakable promises and steadfast love. Awaken our hearts to Your presence. Renew our faith, strengthen our hope, and equip us to persevere. Fill us with Your peace as we await the fulfillment of Your kingdom. Amen.
