Scriptures: Micah 4:1-5, 5:2-4, 1 John 4:7-16, Luke 2:1-14
Over 2,000 years ago, everything changed today! Micah 4:1-5 and 5:2-4 paints a beautiful picture of God’s promised peace, a time when nations will come to Jerusalem for guidance, and the Prince of Peace will be born in Bethlehem. Micah prophesies a ruler who will lead with justice, bringing peace that transcends human understanding. In the midst of war and division, God promises a future where the lamb lies with the lion, and His people live securely.
In 1 John 4:7-16, we are reminded that love is at the heart of God’s nature and His plan for the world. God sent His Son to embody love, and we are called to share that love with others. The love that God has for us calls us to love one another, reflecting His nature in the way we live and interact with others.
Luke 2:1-14 presents the birth of Jesus, the fulfillment of God’s promise to send a Savior. In a humble manger, surrounded by shepherds and angels, God’s greatest gift of love and peace came into the world. The birth of Jesus is the heralding of the peace Micah spoke of, a peace that not only restores relationship with God but also reconciles humanity to one another.
Reflect: As we’ve journeyed through Advent, let us continue to focus on God’s peace and love, which have come to earth through Christ. This season calls us to reflect on His coming and to live in a way that brings His peace to those around us.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the peace and love You have brought through Jesus Christ. Help us to reflect that peace in our lives and share Your love with those around us. May we be agents of reconciliation and harmony, just as Christ came to bring peace on earth. Amen.
