Scriptures: Zechariah 7:8-8:8, Revelation 5:6-14, Matthew 25:14-30

As we approach the celebration of Christ’s birth, the readings this Advent invite us to reflect on God’s promises and His call to faithful stewardship.

In Zechariah 7:8-8:8, God reassures His people that He desires justice, mercy, and truth. He promises to bring them back to their land and bless them with peace, demonstrating His faithfulness despite their past disobedience. The call to righteousness, especially through actions of justice and compassion, is a central theme here. God is not distant; He desires to dwell with His people, offering hope in the midst of despair.

In Revelation 5:6-14, we witness the victorious Lamb who was slain. This Lamb, symbolizing Christ, is worthy to open the scroll and bring about God’s ultimate plan for the world. The passage emphasizes Christ’s worthiness and His sacrifice, calling all of creation to worship Him. This vision gives us assurance that Christ reigns supreme, and that His return will be met with universal praise and glory.

Finally, in Matthew 25:14-30, the parable of the talents challenges us to live faithfully in anticipation of the return of Christ. The faithful servants are entrusted with what God has given them, and they are rewarded for their diligence. The unfaithful servant, on the other hand, is condemned. The message is clear: God has entrusted us with gifts, and He expects us to use them for His kingdom.

Reflect: As we await the coming of Christ, let us be faithful stewards of all He has entrusted to us, living with hope and anticipation.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness and promises. Help us to live in light of Your truth, justice, and mercy. May we be faithful stewards of the gifts You have entrusted to us, and may our hearts be prepared for Your return. We worship You, our victorious Lamb. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
