Scriptures: Zechariah 3:1-10, Revelation 4:1-8, Matthew 24:45-51
As we journey through Advent, we are reminded of God’s promise of restoration, the coming of Christ, and the need for readiness. In Zechariah 3:1-10, we witness Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, clothed in filthy garments, symbolizing Israel’s sin. Yet, God’s mercy intervenes, replacing his filthy clothes with rich, clean robes. This act of cleansing mirrors the promise of redemption that Advent heralds—the coming of a Savior who will purify and restore us to holiness.
Revelation 4:1-8 provides a glimpse into the throne room of heaven, where God is worshiped in majesty and splendor. This passage draws our attention to the awe-inspiring holiness of God and invites us to reflect on our need for reverence and awe in His presence. It reminds us that, though Christ’s first coming was humble, He reigns in glory, and His return will be marked by divine power and glory.
In Matthew 24:45-51, Jesus urges His followers to be faithful and wise servants, ready for His return. The parable of the servant emphasizes the importance of living in expectation, living faithfully, and being prepared for the unexpected arrival of the master. Advent calls us to prepare in a season of waiting and a life of continual readiness.
Reflect: As we await the birth of Christ, may we reflect on God’s faithfulness, His holiness, and our call to live with expectant readiness.
Prayer: Lord, as we await Your coming, we ask for hearts that are ready, faithful, and pure. Cleanse us, Lord, and help us to live in reverence of Your glory. May we remain diligent in our service to You, always prepared for Your return. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
