Scriptures: Zechariah 2:1-13, Revelation 3:14-22, Matthew 24:32-44

As we journey through Advent, we anticipate the coming of Christ, not only as a child in Bethlehem but as the Sovereign King who will return to restore all things. In Zechariah 2:1-13, the prophet envisions a future of peace and restoration where God’s presence will dwell among His people, symbolized by the Holy City. This vision assures us that God is not distant; He is near, gathering His people to Himself.

In Revelation 3:14-22, we encounter the lukewarm church in Laodicea, a stark reminder that we must remain zealous for Christ’s return. Jesus calls them—and us—to repentance, urging us to not be complacent but to recognize the urgency of being spiritually awake. We are reminded that Christ is knocking at the door of our hearts, seeking a genuine relationship with us. Will we open the door?

Jesus’ words in Matthew 24:32-44 remind us to be prepared for His return. Just as the fig tree gives signs of the changing season, so too does the world give signs of Christ’s coming. But the exact hour is unknown, and we must stay vigilant. His return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. We must live in anticipation, ready for His return at any moment.

Reflect: This Advent, let us fix our eyes on the hope of Christ’s return, striving to be faithful and prepared, knowing that He is coming to restore all things.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we thank You for the hope of Your return. Help us to stay alert and faithful, to live with anticipation of Your coming. May our hearts be open to You, and may we live in such a way that reflects Your love and truth. Come, Lord Jesus, come. Amen.
