Scriptures: Zechariah 1:7-17, Revelation 3:7-13, Matthew 24:15-31
In Zechariah 1:7-17, the prophet receives a vision of God’s promises to restore His people and have mercy on Jerusalem. God’s assurance that He is zealous for His people and will return to comfort them is a profound reminder that even in seasons of desolation, His plans for redemption are steadfast.
Revelation 3:7-13 reflects this theme of hope. Jesus, the one who holds the key of David, promises an open door that no one can shut to the faithful church in Philadelphia. Despite their limited strength, their perseverance earns them a place in God’s eternal kingdom. This passage assures us that faithfulness in waiting and obedience is not in vain; God’s rewards are eternal and sure.
In Matthew 24:15-31, Jesus warns of tribulation and speaks of His glorious return. While the description of trials may seem daunting, the emphasis is on vigilance and hope. The Son of Man’s coming is the culmination of God’s redemptive plan—a promise that justice, peace, and restoration will ultimately prevail.
Reflect: As we journey through Advent, these passages call us to trust in God’s faithfulness and await His promises with eager hearts. We are reminded that our hope is not in earthly security but in the One who is coming to make all things new.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your promises of restoration and hope. In seasons of waiting, strengthen our faith and help us remain vigilant and faithful. As we await Christ’s return, may we live as beacons of Your love and truth. Amen.
