Scriptures: Amos 9:11-15, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3, 13-17, John 5:30-47
In Amos 9:11-15, God promises to restore the fallen house of David, bringing hope and renewal to a broken world. This prophecy is fulfilled in Christ, the true King who establishes a kingdom of justice and peace. The Advent season reminds us that Christ’s first coming inaugurated this restoration, and His second coming will bring it to completion.
2 Thessalonians 2:1-3, 13-17 calls us to stand firm in our faith amid uncertainty. Paul encourages believers not to be alarmed by false claims about the Lord’s return but to hold fast to the truth. As we wait in Advent, we are reminded that God has chosen us, sanctifying us by His Spirit. This assurance fuels our hope as we anticipate Christ’s return with steadfast hearts.
In John 5:30-47, Jesus testifies to His divine authority, calling His listeners to believe in Him as the source of life and judgment. He points to the Scriptures, which testify about Him, challenging us to seek Him with humble and open hearts.
Reflect: During Advent, we are invited to rediscover the beauty of the Word and allow it to draw us closer to the One it reveals.
Prayer: Lord of restoration and hope, thank You for the promise of renewal in Christ. Strengthen our faith as we await Your return, and help us hold fast to Your truth. Open our hearts to Your Word, that we may recognize and follow You faithfully. Come, Lord Jesus, and make all things new. Amen.
