Scriptures: Amos 7:10-17, Revelations 1:9-16, Matthew 22:34-46
Amos 7:10-17 portrays the boldness of a prophet standing firm in God’s truth despite opposition. Amos, an ordinary man, was called to deliver a challenging message to Israel. His obedience reminds us that God often speaks through unlikely voices to draw His people back to righteousness.
Revelation 1:9-16 reveals Jesus Christ as the glorified Son of Man, radiant in power and authority. This vision of Christ assures us that the baby born in Bethlehem is now the risen King who reigns over all. His voice, like the sound of rushing waters, commands our attention. As we await His second coming, we remember that He holds all things in His hands, including our present and future.
Matthew 22:34-46 demonstrates Jesus’ unmatched wisdom as He silences His challengers by summarizing God’s law into two commandments: love God and love your neighbor. He then reveals Himself as both David’s son and Lord, pointing to His divine authority.
Reflect: As we journey through Advent, we are reminded that the God who spoke through Amos, the Christ who revealed His glory to John, and the Savior who taught with authority in Jerusalem still speaks to us today. Will we listen and respond with faith and love?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for speaking through Your Word and through Christ, the Word made flesh. Help us to love You with all our hearts and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Open our ears to Your truth and our hearts to Your call. Amen.
