Scriptures: Amos 3:1-11, 2 Peter 1:12-21, Matthew 21:12-22
Advent is a season of reflection, preparation, and anticipation of Christ’s coming. Today’s readings call us to align our lives with God’s holiness and bear the fruit He desires.
In Amos 3:1-11, God reminds Israel of their unique calling and the consequences of straying from Him. As His chosen people, they were meant to reflect His character. Yet, their disobedience brought judgment. Similarly, Advent invites us to examine our hearts and turn from anything that hinders our relationship with God.
In 2 Peter 1:12-21, Peter emphasizes the certainty of God’s Word. The prophecies of Scripture are not myths but divinely inspired truths, illuminating the path for believers. During Advent, we are reminded to hold fast to God’s promises as a light in the darkness, awaiting the fulfillment of all He has spoken.
Matthew 21:12-22 challenges us to live fruitful lives. Jesus cleansed the temple, declaring it a house of prayer, and cursed the fig tree that bore no fruit.
Reflect: This season calls us to be temples of God’s Spirit, bearing the fruits of righteousness and faith.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for calling us to be Your people and for giving us Your Word as our guide. During this Advent season, cleanse our hearts, align our lives with Your holiness, and help us to bear fruit for Your kingdom. May we faithfully await Christ’s coming with hope and joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
