Have you ever found yourself waiting—really waiting—for God to move? Maybe you’ve prayed for open doors, financial provision, a breakthrough in your family, or healing in your heart. You’ve done all you know to do, yet it still feels like heaven is silent. Waiting can be one of the hardest places to live. It tests our patience, challenges our faith, and tempts us to believe we’ve been forgotten.
But what if the blessings you’re praying for aren’t being delayed… they’re simply being prepared?
I was recently reminded that God doesn’t just react to our prayers—He goes before us, orchestrating things we can’t yet see. What we call a delay is often divine positioning. While we’re asking “when,” God is working on the “how.” And when the time is right, everything He’s been preparing will unfold in a way that reminds us He’s been in control all along.
Instead of striving, struggling, or trying to convince God to bless us, we can rest in the assurance that He already has. Our part is to stay faithful, keep walking, and trust that—at just the right time—we will step into what’s already been set in motion.
A Table Already Set
One of my favorite verses captures this truth beautifully: “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies” (Psalm 23:5). Notice it doesn’t say we prepare the table—it says God does. That means long before we ever step into a season of blessing, God has already set the table.
Picture it: a table overflowing with everything you need—peace, provision, restoration, purpose, and victory. You’re invited, your name is written on the seat, and the Host has been waiting for you to arrive. The table isn’t being built as you walk in—it’s already ready.
That’s the kind of God we serve. A God who goes before us, making arrangements for our arrival.
The Promised Land Was Already Waiting
Think about the Israelites wandering in the wilderness for forty years. While they were struggling, questioning, and learning to trust, the Promised Land was already there—lush and overflowing with milk and honey. The vineyards were planted. The wells were dug. The homes were built.
Their inheritance wasn’t something they had to create; it was something they had to step into.
Sometimes, our journey feels long and uncertain because God is preparing us before He brings us into what He’s prepared for us. The Promised Land was ready—but the people weren’t. God was building their faith, teaching them dependence, and shaping their character so that when they arrived, they could handle the blessing.
Positioned, Not Forgotten
Maybe you’ve been praying for years—for a job opportunity, for a prodigal child to come home, for healing, or for direction—and it feels like nothing is happening. But delay is not denial. God is aligning people, resources, and circumstances so that everything falls perfectly into place.
Look at Joseph. He was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and forgotten in prison. From the outside, his life looked like one setback after another. But each “setback” was actually a step forward. Every season was preparing him for the position God had already reserved for him.
When Pharaoh had a dream that no one could interpret, Joseph was already in place. His faithfulness in the pit positioned him for the palace.
In the same way, God is preparing opportunities for you that you don’t even know about yet. The people who will favor you, the doors that will open, the timing of your next season—it’s all already set. Your job is to stay faithful, keep your heart pure, and trust His process.
Stop Striving—Start Trusting
One of the greatest freedoms we can experience is realizing that we don’t have to strive for what God has already prepared. We don’t have to force doors open or manipulate outcomes.
Imagine being invited to a beautifully prepared banquet. The table is set, candles lit, food steaming, and your seat reserved. Would you walk in and start rearranging the table, cooking new dishes, or trying to build your own chair? Of course not. You’d simply sit down and enjoy what’s been prepared for you.
That’s what faith looks like—choosing to rest instead of wrestle, to sit instead of strive.
When we truly trust God’s timing, we can enjoy the journey instead of resenting the wait.
Hidden but Not Absent
Sometimes, God hides what He’s doing until the moment we’re ready to see it. Just because you don’t see movement doesn’t mean there isn’t momentum.
Isaiah 65:24 says, “Before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will hear.” That means God doesn’t start working when we start praying—He’s already working. The answer might not have arrived yet, but it’s already on its way.
Like the roots of a tree growing silently underground, the evidence may not be visible, but life is still happening beneath the surface.
What to Do While You Wait
So, what do we do while we’re waiting to walk into what God has prepared?
1. Stay faithful where you are.
Joseph served well in every season—whether in Potiphar’s house, in prison, or in the palace. When we give our best right where we are, we show God we can be trusted with more.
2. Keep your attitude right.
Waiting can wear you down if you let it, but gratitude and trust will carry you through. God is working even when you don’t see it, and complaining only clouds your perspective.
3. Be ready to move when the door opens.
When God says, “It’s time,” don’t hesitate. The open door may not look the way you expected, but obedience always leads to blessing.
Your Seat Is Waiting
If you’ve been feeling weary, overlooked, or forgotten, take heart—your blessing has already been prepared. The table is set. The timing is unfolding. The promise is alive and well.
You may not see it yet, but heaven is already arranging things in your favor. God is not scrambling for answers—He’s already written the outcome.
So, lift your head. Keep walking. Keep believing. The same God who prepared a table before David, who positioned Joseph for promotion, and who led the Israelites into promise—is the same God preparing your next season.
When the moment comes, you won’t have to force it. You’ll simply step into what’s already been waiting for you.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for going before me and preparing every step of my journey. Help me to rest in Your timing, even when I can’t see the full picture. Remind me that Your delays are not denials and that every waiting season has purpose.
Give me faith like Joseph to stay faithful in the unseen places and patience like the Israelites to trust that the promise is worth the wait. Prepare my heart to recognize the doors You open and the blessings You’ve already arranged.
Today, I choose to release striving and embrace Your peace. Thank You for setting a table before me—may I walk in confidence, knowing that what You’ve prepared for me will come to pass in Your perfect time.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
