Some days, my faith feels strong enough to move mountains. Other days… it feels like I’m barely moving a pebble. In those moments, God has a beautiful way of reminding me: You were never meant to do this alone. Faith isn’t just a personal possession—it’s something that can be ignited, strengthened, and even borrowed from others when our own is running low.

We live in a culture that celebrates self-reliance. “You’ve got this,” the world says. But Scripture tells a different story—one of shared burdens, united prayers, and the kind of friendships that pull us closer to God when we’re tempted to drift away. That’s the heart behind today’s devotional: surrounding yourself with people whose faith fuels your own, and being that person for someone else.

The Power of Proximity

There’s a story in Mark 2 where a paralyzed man’s friends carry him to Jesus. The house is packed. The crowd is thick. But instead of giving up, these friends tear a hole in the roof and lower the man right in front of Jesus. And here’s the part that always grabs me: “When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralyzed man, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven.’” (Mark 2:5)

It wasn’t just the man’s faith—it was the faith of his friends that moved the heart of God. Sometimes your miracle comes because someone else refuses to stop believing for you. And sometimes, you’ll be the one holding the rope for someone else’s breakthrough.

“Just One More”

Pastor Tommy Brown shared a message yesterday about praying a “just one more” prayer.

It’s easy to stop praying when we don’t see instant results, but persistence matters. Think about Elijah in 1 Kings 18. He prayed for rain in a land that hadn’t seen a drop in three and a half years. He sent his servant to look for clouds—six times, nothing. But the seventh time? A small cloud appeared, and soon the drought broke.

That’s the power of “just one more.” One more prayer. One more act of faith. One more moment of believing God hasn’t forgotten you.

When your faith is running on fumes, that “just one more” often comes from the people around you. A text message that says, “I’m still praying.” A friend who refuses to let you give up. A spouse who whispers, “God is still working.”

Faith is Contagious

Just like negativity spreads, so does faith. Proverbs 13:20 says, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” I’d add—walk with the faith-filled and become faith-filled. If you spend enough time with people who speak God’s promises, expect miracles, and trust His timing, it will rub off on you.

That’s why I make it a priority to surround myself with people who believe big. People who see setbacks as setups. People who don’t just pray once and walk away—they storm heaven’s gates until the answer comes. And when I’m tempted to settle or stop praying, they remind me to hold on for “just one more.”

A Rope in Your Hand

Think back to the friends who lowered the man through the roof. Each of them had a rope in their hand, working together to get him to Jesus. In your life, you’re holding ropes for people right now—family members, coworkers, church friends. The question is, are you pulling them toward Jesus or letting go?

And here’s the humbling part: someone’s holding a rope for you too. You may not see it, but there are prayers with your name on them going up every day. That’s the beauty of the body of Christ—we carry one another.

Don’t Underestimate Your Influence

You don’t have to be a preacher to inspire faith in someone else. Sometimes it’s your consistency, your refusal to quit, your decision to believe when everything says you shouldn’t. People are watching. And when they see you trust God in the middle of uncertainty, it gives them courage to do the same.

Your faith might just be the spark that lights someone else’s flame.

Today’s Takeaway

Be intentional about who you spend time with. Surround yourself with people who lift you higher, challenge you to believe bigger, and remind you of God’s promises. And be that kind of friend too. Pray “just one more” time. Send that encouraging text. Hold the rope for someone until their miracle comes.

God never designed faith to be a solo act. We grow stronger together.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of community and the friends who strengthen my faith. Help me to be that friend for others—to pray persistently, encourage consistently, and point people toward You in every season. Remind me to hold on for “just one more” prayer, one more act of faith, one more moment of trust. Surround me with people who lift me higher, and make me a light that inspires faith in those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
