We all face difficulties—unexpected detours, unfair treatment, health battles, financial strain, or heartbreak that leaves us breathless. In those moments, it’s easy to ask, “Why me? Why now?” But here’s what I’ve discovered through some of my own darkest hours: God doesn’t allow pain without purpose. He may not cause the storm, but He can always use it. With God, nothing is wasted—not a tear, not a trial, not a single sleepless night.
Every obstacle can become an opportunity. Every setback can be a setup for a comeback.
When God was ready to move David from the pasture to the palace, He didn’t hand him a crown. He handed him a giant. Goliath wasn’t a roadblock—he was the doorway. The enemy standing in David’s way was actually standing on the platform that would launch him into his destiny.
David could’ve walked away, afraid or discouraged. But he didn’t. He ran toward Goliath because he recognized that the size of the problem revealed the size of the promise on the other side. And the same is true for you.
Your Goliath may not carry a sword or a shield, but you know the battle well. Maybe it’s a legal fight, a fractured relationship, a silent depression, or a diagnosis that shook you to your core. But whatever you’re facing, God is using it to grow your strength, deepen your faith, and position you for something greater than you can imagine.
Some doors won’t open until you’ve walked through the furnace.
Some blessings don’t break forth until you’ve battled through the storm.
And the truth is, the bigger the battle, the greater the breakthrough it’s preparing you for.
Goliath wasn’t the enemy of David’s destiny—he was the bridge to it.
The same applies to you.
If the enemy is coming at you harder than ever, it might be because he knows what you don’t: you’re on the edge of elevation. Don’t stop now. You’re closer than you think. The fight you’re in today is forming the faith you’ll need for tomorrow.
And David isn’t the only one. The Bible is filled with stories of those who were elevated after walking through extreme trials:
- Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood firm in the face of a furnace. They could have bowed, but instead, they chose boldness. They declared, “Even if God doesn’t deliver us, we won’t bow.” That kind of courage invites divine companionship. Jesus didn’t remove the fire—He joined them in it. And when they walked out—not a hair singed, not a trace of smoke—they came out promoted, not punished.
- The Israelites at the Red Sea faced what looked like a hopeless dead end. Pharaoh’s army was closing in, and the waters blocked the way forward. But God used what looked like another storm—an east wind—to split the sea wide open. That wind wasn’t trouble—it was transportation into freedom.
God hasn’t changed. The same power that split seas, silenced lions, and brought down giants is at work in your life right now. The storm in front of you isn’t the end of your story—it’s the stage for your miracle.
Psalm 66:12 declares, “We went through fire and flood, but You brought us to a place of great abundance.”
Notice the wording: through. Not around the fire. Not over the flood. But through.
God doesn’t always deliver us from trouble—He often delivers us through it.
So what do you do when life is falling apart?
- Trust that God doesn’t mismanage your life.
- Believe that delays are not denials—they’re divine appointments.
- Know that your setback is simply a set up for something you haven’t seen yet.
And above all, keep showing up. Keep worshiping. Keep forgiving. Keep sowing seeds of faith. Keep walking in integrity. Your faithfulness in the fire is preparing you for favor on the other side.
Promotion doesn’t come from people—it comes from the Lord. He sees your tears. He honors your perseverance. And even when you feel forgotten, He is working behind the scenes to align everything for your good.
So, lift your head. Square your shoulders. Take another step. What the enemy meant for harm, God is already rewriting for good. You’re not being buried—you’re being planted. There’s resurrection power coming.
You’re not stuck—you’re being set up.
You’re not being punished—you’re being positioned.
You’re not defeated—you’re destined.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being a God who turns battles into blessings and trials into triumphs. Remind me that every challenge I face is shaping me for something greater. When fear rises up, give me courage like David. When the heat intensifies, give me faith like the three in the fire. And when I feel surrounded, help me trust like Moses at the Red Sea. Let me not grow weary or bitter, but bold and believing. Use my pain as a platform for Your glory. I declare that promotion is coming. I choose to trust You—through the fire, through the flood, and through the waiting. I believe You’re not done yet, and the best is still ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
