Tucked within the pages of Exodus lies a verse that often gets overshadowed by the grand miracles of the Red Sea and the Ten Commandments — yet its promise is just as life-changing. Exodus 15:26 (TLB) says:
“If you will listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and obey it, and do what is right, then I will not make you suffer the diseases I sent on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you.”
Let those last words echo in your spirit:
“I am the Lord who heals you.”
God didn’t say, “I was the Lord who healed,” or “I might heal if you perform well enough.” He reveals His identity in the present tense — Jehovah Rapha, the God who is healing. This isn’t just something He does; it’s who He is. Healing is in His nature, part of His divine character. The same voice that flung stars into space, that called Lazarus from the grave, that restored sight to the blind — is the voice that says to you today, “I am your Healer.”
From “God Can” to “God Will”
For many believers, the struggle isn’t believing in God’s power — it’s believing in His intentions.
We trust that God can heal. We believe He performed miracles in the past. We sing songs about His power. But deep down, many of us wrestle with a painful question:
“Will He do it for me?”
That’s why Exodus 15:26 is more than a historical promise — it’s a personal invitation. God made a covenant with His people: “If you’ll listen to Me and walk with Me, I will keep you from disease — because I am the Lord who heals.”
Healing isn’t a perk for the perfect. It’s not reserved for a chosen few. It’s part of God’s covenant, part of His plan, and a reflection of His unwavering love. And that covenant didn’t expire when the Old Testament ended. Hebrews 13:8 reminds us:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
That means what He did then, He’s still doing now.
He Never Turned Anyone Away
Time after time in the Gospels, we see people coming to Jesus in desperation — and without exception, He met them with compassion.
“And He healed them all.”
That phrase is repeated again and again. He didn’t stop to check their past. He didn’t weigh whether they were “worthy.” He didn’t heal some and skip others.
He healed them all.
That gives me so much hope. Because if they could receive healing then, we can receive it now. And it’s not just physical healing — it’s emotional healing from trauma, mental healing from anxiety and depression, spiritual healing from shame and regret. He’s still restoring what life tried to destroy.
Hearing and Heeding: The Pathway to Wholeness
Exodus 15:26 begins with a crucial word: “If.”
“If you will listen to the voice of the Lord your God…”
Hearing God isn’t just about sound; it’s about surrender. It’s turning down the volume of fear, anxiety, and doubt so we can clearly hear His truth.
And obedience? It’s not a performance — it’s a position. It’s choosing to trust God’s way even when it’s hard. It’s saying yes before you see the result. That kind of obedience doesn’t earn healing — it aligns us with the Healer.
Just like a child experiences safety in the presence of a loving parent, we experience healing when we stay close to our Father. He isn’t withholding goodness; He’s inviting us into it.
From Begging to Believing
I used to pray, “Lord, if it’s Your will, please heal me.” It sounded right — even reverent. But one day, I realized I wasn’t praying in faith, I was praying in doubt.
God had already revealed His will: “I am the Lord who heals you.”
That’s not a question mark. That’s a declaration.
Now I pray from a different place. I say, “God, I know it’s Your will to heal. I receive what You’ve already made available.”
That’s not presumption — that’s biblical faith. Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith, it’s impossible to please God. Believing that He wants to heal honors who He is.
Healing is Still His Heart
No matter what you’re facing today — a scary diagnosis, the heaviness of depression, the ache of grief, or spiritual weariness — hear this clearly:
God hasn’t forgotten you. He sees. He knows. He cares. And He heals.
Healing might not always look the way we imagined. Sometimes it’s instant; sometimes it’s a process. But God’s heart is always for restoration. Always.
So today, choose to believe again. Don’t let yesterday’s disappointment rob you of today’s hope. Listen to His voice. Obey what He says. And receive healing — not just for your body, but for your heart, your mind, your soul.
A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You are still Jehovah Rapha — my Healer. Thank You for the promise of Your Word and the power of Your presence. I choose to quiet the voices of fear and listen to You. I choose to obey even when it’s hard. And I choose to believe that Your will is healing, wholeness, and restoration in every area of my life. I receive Your healing today — in my body, in my mind, in my emotions, and in my spirit. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
