Have you ever found yourself counting on a job, a person, or even your own abilities to meet your needs—only to be disappointed when things didn’t work out? I’ve been there. But I’ve learned something life-changing: God is my Source. Everything else is just a resource.
In a world where stability feels like a moving target, it’s easy to look to the wrong places for provision and security. We rely on paychecks, government programs, relationships, and our own plans. While these things can be blessings, they are not the true source of our strength or supply. They’re channels that God may use, but He alone is the Source that never runs dry.
When we understand this foundational truth, it shifts everything. We stop panicking when the job is lost, the deal falls through, or the people we were counting on walk away. Why? Because God is not limited by any one avenue. He’s the Creator of heaven and earth—He has unlimited ways to get provision and favor to you.
Philippians 4:19 reminds us, “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Notice it doesn’t say some of your needs or if everything goes well. It says all your needs, and not according to your employer’s bank account or your own savings—but His riches in glory.
One of my favorite examples of this truth is when Peter went back to fishing after Jesus was crucified. He fished all night and caught nothing. He was exhausted, discouraged, and no doubt wondering what the future held now that Jesus—the one he believed in—was gone. But then morning came, and Jesus was on the shore, alive and waiting. What blows me away is this: Jesus already had a fire going and was cooking fish—the very thing Peter had been toiling for all night.
That story reminds me that even when it feels like our dreams have died or our efforts are in vain, Jesus is alive, waiting on the shore with everything we need already prepared. Just like Peter, we often return to what’s familiar when hope feels lost. But Jesus meets us in those moments and says, “Come and eat.” He’s not only our Savior—He’s our Source, and He shows up at the perfect time with exactly what we need.
It also echoes what He told the woman at the well in John 4. He said, “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst again.” She came looking for physical water, but Jesus offered something far better—living water. He is that living water. Everything we need to be fulfilled, sustained, and satisfied is found in Him.
James 1:17 says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” The world may shift, people may change, but God remains faithful. He is not confined by what we see or understand.
Sometimes we hold on tightly to what’s familiar, fearing that if we let go, we’ll fall. But God is saying, “Let go of the resource and trust the Source.” Whether it’s finances, relationships, health, or opportunities—He knows exactly what you need and how best to provide it.
We serve a God who provided manna in the desert and brought water from a rock. He fed a prophet with ravens and multiplied a widow’s oil. He caused fish to carry coins and commanded storms to be still. There is nothing too hard for Him.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 paints such a beautiful picture of this trust:
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream… It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
That’s what happens when you know who your Source is. You don’t wither when the economy dips. You don’t crumble when the company downsizes. You don’t live in fear of what people might do or not do. You’re rooted in the One who controls it all.
So today, I want to encourage you: don’t chase the resource—trust the Source. Stop waiting for everything to be perfect before you rest. Stop measuring God’s faithfulness by your circumstances. He sees what you need, when you need it, and how best to provide it.
He’s already gone before you. He’s lining up divine connections, unexpected provision, and new beginnings. If a door closes, trust that a better one is being prepared. If something is taken away, believe something greater is on the way.
Stay faithful. Stay expectant. Keep declaring that God is your Source. When that truth takes root in your heart, you’ll live with confidence, peace, and unwavering hope—no matter what comes your way. I hope this speaks to you, and I pray you have a blessed day!
