Lift Up Your Head

King David said, “Lift up your head, and the King of Glory will come in.” It’s easy to go through life always looking back, focusing on what didn’t work out, who hurt you, and the mistakes you’ve made. Sometimes, circumstances may convince us to keep our heads down. But we cannot go through life looking down, thinking about our problems, dwelling on how bad they are, and reliving every negative thing that’s happened while also expecting to have God’s best.

You may feel you have too many problems, but God wastes nothing we go through, and while you can’t change the past, you have the power to shape your present and future. Whether it’s a recent or a distant past, releasing the negative baggage is crucial. Instead, look up and declare, “Father, I’m ready for this day. I’m moving forward with my life.” When you live with hope, gratitude, passion, and productivity, the King of Glory, the Most High God, will make a way where there seems to be no way.

As long as you have breath, keep your head up and take charge of your life. Perhaps you will find yourself in a situation where those around you compromise their integrity or take the easy way out. In such moments, choose to be the one with an excellent spirit. Set the highest standard and give your best in everything you do. Whether you have a lot or a little, old or new, take pride in what God has given you and steward it well. Do your job to the best of your ability and live in a way that attracts others to your God. Be the best witness you can be.

One of the many things I love about God is this: Just because we give up on a dream doesn’t mean He gives up on it. Scripture says, “God remembered Rachel.” It doesn’t say that Rachel remembered God. This is how much God wants you to fulfill your destiny despite what has happened in your past. He is so loving and merciful that even when you become too discouraged to believe, God does not forget what He promised you. He remembers. You may have already said, “Forget it. It will never happen.” The good news is you don’t have the final say. God has the final say, and He says, “What I started in your life, I will finish.”
