Now to Eternity

Eternity
Every second we are breathing we are one second closer to meeting either our maker or spending eternity separated from Him.

“Therefore do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16 (NIV)

Each day we spend here on earth is a precious gift from God and what we choose to do with it is our gift to Him. Over the last few months, I have lost some people very dear to my heart; some of them finished the race strong and were ready to be with the Lord, some were young and so on fire for God, and some had not even taken their first breath. I can’t make sense of God’s timing nor His ways in any of these deaths, but I know as the heavens are higher than the earth so are His ways and thoughts higher than my own.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the light and He came to set us free. Our freedom came at an extraordinary price, but He saved us because of His mercy. As children of God, nothing can separate us from His love. Even though life and its circumstances are often out of our control, as followers of Christ, we serve the Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counselor, and Mighty God, so whatever we are going through, He is higher than any trial we face.

The world is constantly trying to conform and mold us into its image, causing us immense stress and endless worry. Even though Jesus came to set us free, we are bound by our circumstances. If we would stop worrying long enough we would be able to hear the voice of God and rest in His peaceful presence. When we stop being conformed by the world and instead are transformed by the renewing of our mind we will know true peace. Our freedom, salvation and peace are found in no one else but Jesus. Stop fixating on your problems and fix your eyes on Jesus the lover of your soul.

    Dear Jeff,
I love this. You make it simple. Just look at Jesus. Just come away with Him and think about His goodness. Think about His ways being higher than mine. Oh, yes, this is good stuff! Thank you!

With God, all things are possible. I write to offer hope and encouragement to anyone walking through the in-between seasons of life. My prayer is that as you read these words—and see your own story reflected in them—you’ll be strengthened, reminded you’re not alone, and drawn closer to the One who makes all things new.
